Greetings friends, it's been some time since we touched the blog, thought I'd take a moment to fill in some of the gap. Crissy and I have relocated from the Scarborough sprawl to the heart of the city. Living just a few blocks from our favorite textile and culture outlets is a dream come true for the two of us, everything we want to tap in to is right here in our back yard.

I'm writing this now as I prepare myself to hit the sewing machine for the 3rd straight day, assembling a small army of hats for some friends to take to Tokyo for CMWC 2009. In the not so distant future we will be updating our information here about our products, as well as the details of our summer.

On August 31st a cyclist was killed in a terrible accident that has shaken many of us in Toronto. I won't get into the details of the accident now, I'm sure to write about it before long, I do want to say that there will be a Darcy Allen Sheppard memorial hat produced in a limited run with the proceeds going into a trust fund for his family. The first cap in this line was conceived yesterday and given as a prize to the winner of a race in Al's honor, hand painted by Adrian Hayles . The hat was gorgeous (pictures to come), I'm going to start with 30 units and the price will be in the ballpark of $50. Again, I'll be updating these details in just a few days.

In the mean time, I have to get back to machine. Japan is just around the bend.

An evening with Toronto's cycling establishment, or Dandy Horsing around.

Fall 2008 was a great time for Wipt, we didn't sell many shirts but we did meet quite a few great people through Sunny D's Velo Social!

One of those great people is Tammy Thorne, Editor in Chief of Dandyhorse, a magazine about Toronto On Two Wheels.
Tammy is a highly active member of the Toronto cycling community, and we were excited that she took an interest in what we are doing. The result? Wipt has a piece in the current issue of Dandyhorse!
What an honor it is to share pages with not only Mike Barry of Mariposa (!!!!), but a few of our friends and community that we have much respect for (shout out to Andrew Meamura, Sarah Hood, Matt Rennick, Joe Travers, Yvonne Bambrick, the list goes on...).

What follows are a few shots from the Dandyhorse release party, BMX flatland, cake, goldsprints, perogies, good music and great people.

I'll be updating this post when I get a chance to provide photo captions, and add some shots caught by other photographers.

Peace!

catching up to do, pt. 1

The last few weeks have seen us busy, and it's a pleasure to say that we've been busy on our bikes!

Where's Waldo was wonderful, a race with a purpose beyond any old excuse to get together, the community came together to race and raise money for their friend Amy Dyer, who went toe to toe with a pothole and took a few blows. Amy took it like a champ, still smiling (and healing like a superhuman), and soon to be sporting a new grill thanks to everyone who came out to the event, made a donation, ate, drank and had fun. I think a few peeps might have walked their bikes that night.

XO to Amy, so glad to see you in good spirit!
Mad love to everyone involved in the race; Toby, Maija, Leah, Shane & Peggy, everyone who donated and everyone who came out!

putting money where her mouth is

Friday April 24th is the day we will race to put a few teeth back in Amy Dyer's face.

The potholes in Toronto are literally man (and woman) eating this spring, as Amy unfortunately found out the hard way.
She's tough as nails and with the support of her family, friends, and community, she'll be flashing her grin again in no time.

I urge you to come out and race for Amy's face (dentists aren't cheap), make a donation and support an awesome woman who deserves a break during a hard time.

See the facebook group here http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=71926329150

In the mean time, if you find a nasty pothole yourself we urge you to call the Toronto Pothole Hotline @ 416-599-9090, the city has vowed prompt filling of potholes called in and I for one would love to put that to a test...

Keep your chin up Amy, and we hope to see all of you at the race!

- Respect to everyone who acted quickly to help out their friend. The love in this community is palpable, and this race is a great example.

Raising the bar!

Surfed over to Skitchclothing.com today to see what's new and found a gem, a short clip of Tom Briggs doing some trick I've never seen before: fakie wheel grab barspin, and a fakie barspin, barspin back!

Sick moves Tom, keep up the creativity!

Bike Polo (Toronto, March 8 2009) from Tim Pass on Vimeo.

Saturday blessed southern Ontario with warm air, tons of sun, and little wind to speak of.
Not that the Toronto Bike Polo junkies need an excuse to get together, these folk will play in almost any weather ( I've seen it, frost bite and all ).
This is a tight crew most of whom I call friend and all of whom I am proud to support.

Thank you Tim Pass for the footage, great job, we need to see more of this!
