putting money where her mouth is

Friday April 24th is the day we will race to put a few teeth back in Amy Dyer's face.

The potholes in Toronto are literally man (and woman) eating this spring, as Amy unfortunately found out the hard way.
She's tough as nails and with the support of her family, friends, and community, she'll be flashing her grin again in no time.

I urge you to come out and race for Amy's face (dentists aren't cheap), make a donation and support an awesome woman who deserves a break during a hard time.

See the facebook group here http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=71926329150

In the mean time, if you find a nasty pothole yourself we urge you to call the Toronto Pothole Hotline @ 416-599-9090, the city has vowed prompt filling of potholes called in and I for one would love to put that to a test...

Keep your chin up Amy, and we hope to see all of you at the race!

- Respect to everyone who acted quickly to help out their friend. The love in this community is palpable, and this race is a great example.

Raising the bar!

Surfed over to Skitchclothing.com today to see what's new and found a gem, a short clip of Tom Briggs doing some trick I've never seen before: fakie wheel grab barspin, and a fakie barspin, barspin back!

Sick moves Tom, keep up the creativity!

Bike Polo (Toronto, March 8 2009) from Tim Pass on Vimeo.

Saturday blessed southern Ontario with warm air, tons of sun, and little wind to speak of.
Not that the Toronto Bike Polo junkies need an excuse to get together, these folk will play in almost any weather ( I've seen it, frost bite and all ).
This is a tight crew most of whom I call friend and all of whom I am proud to support.

Thank you Tim Pass for the footage, great job, we need to see more of this!

Montreal to Super XXXtreme Booty Call

So this race was a wild way to end the week. We had just come back from Montreal the night before where we had a good re-assuring chat with Sylvester at Brakeless, one of the nicest fixed gear boutiques I've ever seen so far. Really amazing atmosphere, gave me a positive outlook for Wipt.

Toby and Maija's funfest in extreme cold temperatures at the Bombshelter. What's better this time of year I do not know but wow.
It took place downtown and started on Queen and Spadina, our checkpoint was the 8th on Queen st. a block away from Osgoode at The Condom Shack! We had about 21 racers come in and do pole dances which was very entertaining for the customers.
The race ended with a few winners with sexy prizes including obey hats, Velocity rims, Crumpler bags, and our shirts. Thanks to everyone who came out and a special thanks to Toby and Maija for having us!

REcap

Welcome to Wipt, my little black on white t-shirt line with a little bit of glow in the dark.
Ever since I moved to Toronto to go to Fashion school I learned about the singlespeed/fixed gear cycling culture and immediately fell in love. I frequently visited La Carrera, one of the classiest bike stores in Toronto, and started filling up with ideas of what I wanted to do with my fashion career. I became inspired by the mix of graf and photography by Stash and Futura, as well as what the Retail Mafia had going on, and spent the rest of the winter months trying to figure out what I wanted to do.
After finishing my first year in school, I met this trickster with alot of energy and passion for ripping on a fixie, which completely blew my mind, So I came up with a trick for a shirt from a photo I took.
I made up a few more images and shot and printed them within a week intime for CMWC, this thing has started off pretty quick without enough forethought as to what I wanted it to turn into, and right now I'm rethinking the entire thing.
At first this was just a T-shirt project, but this is my way of contributing to a culture I have fallen in love with, so I want this to turn into a company that will grow. I'd like to thank everyone who helped the T-shirt thing evolve, and now I have plans for hats, bags, and pants. PANTS! I want to take this thing seriously now.

I've been obsessed with Fashion for as long as I can remember but never knew how I fit in or what I could do with it, but you don't always have to know what you're doing as long as you're doing something, experiencing takes you to realizing a world of potential. SO a huge thanks to everyone I've met here in T.O., the bike store owners, the riders, the racers the messengers, the tricksters, you've ALL inspired me in ways you don't even know, AND
A huge thanks to Cog, my new Vogue.

AND to anyone reading this, Wipt isn't a one man show, if you have ideas or want to be a part of it, lets chat.
